Ingredients:

  • cooking oil
  • 1 lb. ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 24 pcs mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp parsley and spring onions, chopped

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except the oil, cheese and salsa.
  3. After ingredients are combined, shape a small handful of ground beef into a meatball.
  4. Press a cube of cheese into the meat, then reshape it into a ball.
  5. Repeat steps 3-4 until you've made 24 meatballs.
  6. In a large heavy duty pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat.
  7. Use a large spoon to slowly drop meatballs into the hot oil. Fry for about 2 minutes each, then set aside on a paper-lined plate.
  8. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet, about 1-2 inches apart.
  9. Scatter the shredded cheese over the meatballs, then bake in the oven until the cheese melts.
  10. Place meatballs on a plate, then garnish with parsley and spring onions. Dip them in marinara sauce and enjoy!
