Dress up your patty melt with zesty garlic aioli and strips of crunchy bacon. Take an American classic to the next level.
Patty Melt with Bacon and Garlic Aioli
An old-fashioned patty melt typically consists of a hamburger patty topped with caramelized onions and cheese, packed between two slices of bread. While the sandwich hasn't changed much since its inception in the 1940's, each region across the United States has its own way of making it by using different types of bread and cheese and adding other ingredients. If you're looking for a simple patty melt, with a hint of garlic and slices of bacon, we've got just what you need.
Ingredients:
Step 1: Garlic Aioli
Blend the garlic, egg, lemon juice, salt, pepper and parsley all while slowly drizzling in the olive oil.
Blending until the mixture is thick like mayonnaise. Set it aside.
Step 2: Bacon
Cook several bacon trips on a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Place them on a paper towel and set them aside.
Step 3: Patties
Grab the ground beef and make four patties, each with an indentation in the middle. Add olive oil, salt and papper to both sides of the patty. Finally add a bit of Worcestershire sauce in the indentation.
Set your grill up and cook for 4 minutes on each side. Plop on two slices of cheese on each patty for the last minute.
Step 4: Toast
Lower the heat of the skillet and brown the Texas toast in the bacon grease.
Step 5: Make Sandwich
To make your sandwich, spread the garlic aioli on one side of the toast, then add lettuce, burger, red onion and bacon. Enjoy!
