9 Amazing One Pot Meals That Are Lifesavers

May 19, 2020 By Hadley Maxwell 1 Comment

Cooking up a storm in the kitchen is a blast but cleaning up the mess afterward isn’t. That’s the beauty of a one pot meal, everything goes into one pot, you cook it, eat it and you only have one pot to wash afterward. It sounds like a concept everyone can agree upon, so, if you dislike washing dishes as much as we do, we’ve got you covered with this handy list of one pot meals.

9 One Pot Meals Recipes If You Hate Washing Dishes

1. Creamy One Pot Pasta

This one pot meal recipe from Tasty is a huge time-saver as there’s no need to boil your pasta in a separate pot. One thing we really like about this technique is that all the flavors fuse together well since there’s so switching of pots and gives a great end result.

Also, this particular recipe is vegetarian but feel free to swap in chicken broth or add chicken strips to pack more protein into this dish.

2. Chili Cornbread Skillet

There’s not too many things in this world that are more comforting than a warm bowl of chili partnered with freshly baked cornbread. This recipe from Budget Bytes combines the two in one skillet by baking the cornbread right on top of the chili as it finishes in the oven.

The recipe is vegetarian friendly but you can totally substitute in ground beef, pork or turkey. Another added bonus of this recipe is that once cooled, it holds up well in the refrigerator and is very meal prep friendly.

3. One Pot Meaty Tortellini

|

This delicious recipe from Spicy Southern Kitchen and can be prepared and on the table in 15 minutes. Also, the tortellini cooks right in the sauce soaking up lots of flavor and of course, one less pot to wash.

If you can’t find mini pepperoni, regular-sized pepperoni works just as well. Pair this up with some crusty bread and a green salad and you’ve got yourself a complete meal.

4. Chicken Parm Meatball Skillet

All the appetizing flavors of Chicken Parm but in a juicy meatball form. Sure to be a hit with your guests and great to serve these delectable meatballs over pasta for an easy one pot dinner.

Pro-tip, always make sure to fry off a small sample of your meatball mix to taste test for seasoning and adjust accordingly before rolling them out into balls.

5. The Best Baked Rice And Beans

|

Chef John from All Recipes was encouraged by certain worldwide events to create a recipe that uses common dry and canned goods. Another thing we love about this recipe is you literally mix all the ingredients in a pan, set it in the oven for an hour and that’s it.

Also, this recipe is very flexible to substitute in other ingredients if you can’t find them in your cupboard. Feel free to substitute in black or pinto beans if you prefer and make sure the rice is cooked before serving. If it’s not, continue to bake until tender and you’re all good to go.

6. Corn-And-Ham Risotto

|

With the addition of corn and ham this risotto becomes a complete meal. Also, no need to worry if you’ve got leftovers because that just means you can make fried risotto cakes. It’s the meal that just keeps on giving!

Just take your cold leftover risotto, shape into patties and fry until golden brown in butter or oil. If you’re feeling a bit extra, make a simple marinara sauce for a dipping sauce.

7. Spinach-Artichoke Deep-Dish Pizza

|

We love pizza but making it can be a bit of a laborious process. Not the case with this recipe from Country Living. Also, this recipe is the perfect excuse to bring out your cast-iron skillet.

Not only that, it’ll help you achieve a flavorful and deep crust. Save yourself a lot of time by using store-bought pizza dough, just let it come to room temperature before cooking. Also, don’t forget to finish with a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil and torn basil leaves.

8. Easy One Pot Lasagna

|

Lasagna, in 30 minutes? Impossible, right? At least that’s what we thought before we tried this amazing recipe from Damn Delicious. No need to pre-boil the lasagna noodles and no layering of any kind.

Everything goes into the pot, once the pasta is tender, scoop in some fresh ricotta cheese and you’re ready to eat. This lasagna recipe is a lifesaver of a one pot recipe that saves you a lot of time without sacrificing any flavor.

9. Perfect Pot Roast

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/B6b9kQLpg-H/ hidecaption=true width=800]

One of our favorite one pot meals of all time: pot roast. You’ll need to prepare in advance but it’ll be worth it. The one thing we love about pot roasts is that you can prep it and set it in the oven while you go about your day. Great to prepare after lunch and it’ll be ready to go before dinner time.

Pro-tip: Don’t add your vegetables until the roast is just about done and tender as you don’t want them to overcook and become soggy. Also, make sure to heavily season your roast before searing. It’s a large piece of meat and can handle the heavy seasoning which will later become a great base for your gravy.

There you go, 9 great recipes that are full on flavor but won’t make you slave over a pile of dishes after you’re done eating. Even if you’re short on time and don’t want to wash a ton of dishes, you can still make a mouthwatering dish with one pot meal recipes!
