Healthy Bran Muffin Recipe You Can Master!
A good healthy bran muffin recipe can be a snack, a dessert, or just a go-to treat for any kind of need! This healthy bran muffin recipe uses two types of bran, so you’re sure you’re getting all the nutrition you can while enjoying a moist and sweet muffin. Gone are the days when I have no idea what to pack for my kids’ lunch or what to munch on as I work. This healthy bran muffin recipe solves all my problems! So, without further ado, let’s get bakin’!
Ingredients:
- 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup wheat bran
- 3/4 oat bran
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 nutmeg
- 1 cup applesauce (unsweetened)
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup raisins or dried fruits (optional)
Step 1. Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and the two types of bran. Using two types of bran for this healthy bran muffin recipe is the secret to making light and fluffy muffins. It’s the second type of bran, the oat bran, that fluffs up the entire muffin when baked.
Note: You may sift the dry ingredients, but doing so would only cause the two types of bran to get stuck in the sifter.
Step 2. Mix the Wet Ingredients
Combine the applesauce, maple syrup, oil, and eggs in a bowl. Whisk until they form a consistent texture. Add the mixture of dry ingredients into this bowl and mix everything with a baking spatula until smooth. At this point, you may add your extra optional ingredients such as raisins or nuts.
Step 3. Bake
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. While the oven is heating up, fill your muffin cups with the muffin batter. Use an ice cream scoop for uniformity and ease. Bake for 12-14 minutes, then set on a cooling rack. Enjoy!
There you have it!
For storage, you may temporarily place your healthy bran muffins in a cake holder covered with glass. You can also put them in a fruit basket! If you find the batter is too much for one batch, you may freeze it, and bake another batch the following day.

Very tasty; I omitted the maple syrup and use 1/4 cup of natural brown sugar. Instead of oil I used1/4 cup ground flax seed. I used 2 large ripe bananas. I will definitely make these again.
