Chicken pot pie is one of the best snack recipes of children and adult. The yummy chicken filling can certainly tickle your taste buds with many flavors. On the other hand, the crunchy pie crust can balance out the entire flavor of the filling. Here is one homemade chicken pot pie recipe to enjoy.

You Will Need:

1 pound of chicken breast halves (skinless, boneless and cubed)

½ teaspoon of salt

1 cup of carrots (sliced)

¼ teaspoon of black pepper

1 cup of frozen green peas

¼ teaspoon of celery seed

½ cup of sliced celery

1 ¾ cup of chicken broth

1/3 cup of butter

2/3 cup of milk

1/3 cup of chopped onion

2 pieces of unbaked pie crusts

1/3 cup of all purpose flour

Procedure:

Step 1.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2.

Place celery, peas, carrots and chicken cubes into the saucepan. Pour water into it, cover then boil for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, remove the pan from heat, drain the water then set it aside.

Step 3.

Get another saucepan and place it over medium heat. Melt the butter into it then add the onions. Continue cooking until the onions are already soft and translucent. Add in the celery, flour, pepper and salt. Pour the milk and chicken broth slowly into the mixture. Allow to simmer in medium to low heat until the mixture becomes thick. Remove the pan from heat and set it aside.

Step 4.

Place the resulting mixture into your readily available pie crust. Afterwards, pour int the first mixture on top. Get the top crust then cover the bottom crust. Seal the edges. If there are any extra dough, you can cut it off. Get a knife and use it to create small slits on the top crust of the pie. This is done so that the steam will not build up inside the crust.

Step 5.

Bake the crust in the preheated oven. Do this for about 30 to 35 minutes. Wait for the crust to turn golden brown. The filling should be bubbly too. .

Step 6.

Remove from oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.

Step 7.

Serve right away.
