Who needs Chipotle when you can easily prepare your own burrito bowl recipe at home?

Homemade Burrito Bowl Recipe

Ever since news of the nationwide E. coli outbreaks at Chipotle, people stopped going to the popular fast-food chain in fear of contracting the disease and ending up with food poisoning. While the CDC has since cleared all Chipotle stores free of E. coli, that doesn't that everyone is rushing back to Chipotle. If you're one of those people who's still iffy about heading back, but missing some of their dishes, why not just make your own Chipotle-inspired plate? With this homemade burrito bowl recipe, from Instructables' user MichaelM2015, you can get a little bit of Chipotle right at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • ½ c. salsa
  • 1 c. black or pinto beans
  • 2 tbsp. taco seasoning
  • 1 c. long grain rice, cooked ahead of time
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup monterey jack, shredded
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 yellow bell pepper
  • ¼ tsp. chili powder
  • chopped fresh tomatoes
  • sour cream

Step 1: Cut Your Veggies

Start by finely mincing both your onion and bell pepper.

Step 2: Sauté Veggies

Add a little bit of oil into a large pan and heat until hot. Throw in the minced onion and bell pepper into the pan and sauté everything until brown. Once done, remove the vegetables from the pan and place them into a small bowl.

Step 3: Cook Ground Beef

Now cook your ground beef, stirring and breaking it up frequently with a spatula. Once it's completely cooked (and brown), drain the juices.

Step 4: Mix All Ingredients

Combine your canned tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, black or pinto beans, salsa, taco seasoning, chili powder and already cooked rice with the ground beef and veggies. Stir everything together until well combined.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve!

Your bowl is now finished! You can add cilantro, hot sauce, shredded cheese, guac and sour cream as garnish. Enjoy!
