8 Delicious Coconut Flour Waffles You Can Make For Quarantine

May 28, 2020 By Hadley Maxwell 2 Comments

Coconut flour is a great alternative to regular all-purpose flour. It is gluten-free and low carb, which is perfect for the paleo and keto diets.

Not only does it fit under those diets mentioned above, but it also aids in managing the symptoms that are associated with celiac disease, because of its gluten-free composition.

Substitute for Flour

You can substitute pretty much any normal all-purpose flour recipes with coconut flour recipes, as the latter provides you with the same consistency but provides a healthier option.

Speaking of recipes, breakfast is a great way to introduce coconut flour to your diet! You can choose from plenty of meal options, but everyone’s favorite has to be pancakes or yummy waffles.

In this article, we’ve curated different variations of everyone’s favorite breakfast staple, waffles. These easy recipes use coconut flour instead of all-purpose flour for healthy, nutty, and yummy dishes!

1. Vegan & Paleo Breakfast Recipe Waffles

This delicious recipe is perfect for breakfast, however, if you want to have it for dinner, dessert, or any time of the day, it’s perfect too! It uses the sweetness of applesauce and adds a delicious twist to a normal waffle recipe.

To add a more nutty and interesting depth of flavor to this recipe, nut butter is included. You can choose whichever nut butter you prefer, may it be cashews, pistachios, peanuts, whatever you have works for this recipe.

Take it a step further by making your own nut butter with nuts that you have available in your house! Just blend together your nuts and flavorless oil using a high-powered blender to give it a smooth and silky result.

2. Vanilla Coconut Flour Waffles

These easy vanilla coconut waffles use an essential ingredient in most desserts, vanilla extract. Vanilla adds a sweet touch to your coconut flour waffles and discourages you from using too much sugar with its already sweet flavor.

That makes this recipe perfect for those people trying to cut down on sweets! You can use store-bought vanilla extract for this recipe, or you can use organic vanilla beans for a more concentrated flavor.

3. Simple Cinnamon Coconut Flour Waffles

Here is another great yet simple recipe from this list that also uses vanilla extract. Cinnamon powder brings a sweet and earthy taste to your dish and has loads of antioxidants that help you keep your healthy diet, not mention, this is totally a kid friendly recipe!

Just like the recipe above, you can also use organic cinnamon sticks if you don’t want to use a powder. Cinnamon sticks, just like vanilla beans, will yield a more flavorful addition to your coconut flour waffles.

4. Banana Bread Protein Waffles

|

If you love banana bread, then you’ll love this low carb, waffle version of it! Protein powder is added to make the batter have a more milky taste to it while being filling at the same time.

What’s cooler about this recipe is that it doesn’t use any type of sweetener because of the naturally sweet taste of bananas! Talk about an all-natural sweet treat for you and your loved ones!

5. Cream Cheese Coconut Flour Waffles

|

For a savory take on your coconut flour waffles, add cream cheese! Not only does cream cheese make your batter more fluffy and dense, but it makes it more flavorful too!

There’s a little bit of organic sweetener added to this recipe, but feel free to omit it if you want to go all out with the savory profile on your waffles. Top this off with fruits for a sweet take, or bacon and sausage for a complete full savory breakfast!

6. Pumpkin Coconut Chaffles

|

A very interesting take on coconut flour waffles, this recipe actually uses a lot of cheese for it to be officially dubbed, “Chaffles.” Taking it a step further is the addition of pumpkin!

If you’re confused, don’t be, because when you taste this waffle recipe, it will all make sense. The sweet taste from the pumpkin puree and the savory profile of cheese makes this recipe a delight to your tastebuds!

7. Pork & Cheese Coconut Flour Waffles

|

Speaking of confusion, this very interesting recipe uses an ingredient that most people won’t think of adding to their coconut flour waffle batter ever–pork floss!

Yup, there’s pork floss in this recipe, and if you’re doubtful about how it tastes like, we’re here to tell you that it’s delicious. The crunch from the pork floss adds a great texture to the waffle while the cream cheese complements the pork flavor beautifully.

This definitely yields savory waffles but topping these off with organic maple syrup or keto maple syrup surely brings a delightful taste to the overall dish!

8. Jalapeño Popper Chaffles

|

Wrapping up our list of delicious and fun coconut flour waffle recipes is another interesting take on an already interesting “Chaffle!” recipe!

We all know that jalapeño and cheese go well together, and these chaffles were surely created to represent just that. This is definitely the spiciest recipe on the list, but it’s also the simplest to create.

All you need are for ingredients: coconut flour, eggs, cheese, and jalapeños–that’s it! Whoever said that jalapeños are intimidating and difficult to incorporate in recipes, surely haven’t tried these jalapeño popper chaffles yet!

Those are our top recommended coconut flour waffles recipes ranging from ones having sweet and simple flavor profiles to creative ones that let your tastebuds go on an interesting and delicious trip. We hope you enjoyed these recipes and have fun creating them while in quarantine!

Where are the recipes? You cannot just substitute coconut flour for wheat flour in a recipe because coconut flour absorbs so much more liquid that wheat flour. I love coconut flour but I am wondering if these recipes were tested.
