An easy homemade mac and cheese recipe that you can instantly make in a mug.
Homemade Mac and Cheese In A Mug
Growing up, mac and cheese were definitely one of my favorite dishes to get home to after those long and tiresome school days. There’s just nothing like digging into the warmth of mac and cheese and just suddenly feeling carefree. Now that I’m older, I don’t really eat mac and cheese, but then I thought to myself…WHY NOT?!
If anything, I can now make one of my favorite comfort foods as a kid even better, since I have the tools and mindset to perfect it. That’s why we’ve got this creamy and delicious mac and cheese recipe, which you can easily prepare in a mug to quickly enjoy a hearty meal.

For this tutorial, you’ll need the following:
- 1/3 c. of noodles
- 1/2 c. of water
- 1/2 c. of shredded cheese
- 1/2 tsp. of butter
- 1/4 c. of milk
- 1 large mug
- spoon or fork (for stirring/eating)
- microwave
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Pour the 1/3 cup of pasta into your mug, along with the 1/2 cup of water. Put the mug into the microwave and set it on high for one minute. Remove the mug and stir. Place the mug back into the microwave and heat it for another minute. Repeat this entire process two more times or until there is no water left (or just a tiny bit).
WARNING: Your mug will get extremely hot during this entire thing, so make sure you’re careful and use either a kitchen towel or cooking mitts to get it in and out of the microwave.
Step 2: Add Dairy
Once the noodles are cooked, add the cheese, butter and milk to your mug. Give everything a quick stir, which will help everything melt together. Again, place your mug in the microwave but this time heat it on high for just 30 seconds. Remove the mug from the microwave and give the mac and cheese a final stir.
Step 3: Enjoy!
Let your mug cool first (don’t want to burn yourself) and dig in!
