Everyone reminisces about the simplicity and joy of their childhood days. Most people would give anything just to get a glimpse of what it was like to be a kid again! What better away to reminisce than with something sweet and simple to wind back the clock a few years.
As Sweet As It Gets: How to Make Homemade Candy
All you need is:
- 1/2 a cup confectioners’ sugar for dusting
- 2 cups of white sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 2/3 cup of light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon of peppermint oil, or other flavored oil
- 1 teaspoon of any color food coloring
Procedure:
Step 1.
Coat cookie sheet with confectioner’s sugar generously then set it aside.
Step 2.
Put white sugar, water and corn syrup together in a saucepan and stir until sugar is dissolved.
Step 3.
Bring the mixture into a boil using medium high, about 300 to 310 F. take a small amount of syrup and drop it into cold water. If it turns hard, it’s ready.
Step 4.
Remove pan from the heat and stir in flavoured oil and food coloring.
Step 5.
Pour mixture into cookie sheet in a thin stream immediately and let it cool. Cut into bite size pieces if edges are cool enough to take shape. Place it in an airtight container.
As you can see, it doesn’t take too much effort to remember your childhood experiences. You just have to find it in yourself. Take a bite and enjoy!
