Chinese take-out is great, but what happens when that option isn't available? Not to worry. Easily learn how to make teriyaki chicken right at home!

How To Make Teriyaki Chicken | Homemade Recipes

When it comes to Chinese food, you can never go wrong with some good ol' take out. A few boxes of white rice, orange chicken, broccoli beef and spicy shrimp and you've got one heck of a dinner that you can share with your friends or family. But what happens when take out isn't an option? No nearby or open restaurants and Chinese food is out of the question….

or is it?

As long as you've got a good amount of chicken thighs available at home, you can pretty quickly (and easily) prepare yourself a place of teriyaki chicken, broccoli and white rice all without having to make a phone call. It doesn't matter if you're new to cooking Chinese food, we've got a simple recipe that's easy to follow. Learn how to make teriyaki chicken below.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken thighs, trimmed of fat
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp. finely grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • sesame seeds, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Mix the soy sauce, orange juice, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and sesame oil in a large bowl and set aside.
  2. Pan fry the chicken thighs on their own, with one tablespoon of oil. Do this until both sides of the chicken thighs are golden brown. Set the chicken aside.
  3. Now put the sauce into the pan and heat it to a simmer. Toss the chicken into the sauce and let it cook for 10 to 15 minutes. Make sure to cover the chicken in the teriyaki sauce.
  4. Once the chicken is done, take it out of the sauce and turn on your broiler.
  5. Take them out when the chicken is covered with sauce, meanwhile turn in broiler.
  6. Continue cooking your sauce down with very low seat. Depending on how much sugar is in it, it will thicken.
  7. Brush the cooked chicken with a layer of the thick teriyaki sauce and throw the chicken into the broiler. Cook it on high for 1 to 2 minutes, take the chicken out, brush it once more with teriyaki sauce and throw it back into the broiler for another minute or so.
  8. Serve your chicken with rice and broccoli.
