If you wish to be an accomplished dessert chef, you have to start with the basics. One of the first recipes you should master is a homemade caramel recipe. Once you have got this down pat, you will be able to do different types of desserts. Caramel sauce can be incorporated into almost every dessert. With that in mind, here is a homemade caramel recipe to try:

You Will Need:

1 cup of sugar

¼ liquid cup of water

1 tablespoon of light corn syrup

2 tablespoons of unsalted butter (softened)

½ liquid cup of heavy cream (warm)

1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

½ teaspoon of sea salt (fine grain )

Procedure:

Step 1.

Place the sugar and syrup and enough water to moisten the sugar into a suace pan. Make use of a candy thermometer to regulate the temperature. It should be placed in the pot. Make sure that its tip is placed in the sugar mixture and not the water portion of the mixture.

Step 2.

Heat the mixture as you stirt it constantly. Do this until the sugar has dissolved and the syrup is already bubbly. Once you have noticed bubbles, stop stirring and allow it to boil. It must turn into a deep amber color. Once you have noticed a change in color, remove the pan from heat and pour the warm cream into the pan gradually. This will create big bubbles.

Step 3.

Use either a wooden spoon or a heat – resistant spatula to mix the mixture in the pan until it becomes smooth. If there are any other part that got stuck in the bottom of the pan, lightly scrape it off. In the event that you have observed some lump formation, bring back the pan to the oven and continue heating until it dissolves. Add in the salt and butter. The mixture will have some streaks but it will eventually give off a uniform color.
