Use Your Maple Syrup In Other Dishes Too

5 Ways to Use Maple Syrup in Your Dishes

I am always asked what my favorite food is. But that question is better answered based on the season. I, for instance, fall for maple syrup during fall.

Whether you tap it from your own tree or pick it up on a jaunt to the supermarket, pure maple syrup is pure gold. Luckily, it's so rich and tasty that moderation is an easy task. And finding different ways to use it, aside from on pancakes and French toast, is easy peasy too!

1. Steeped in Flavor

A tiny note with my new teapot clued me in on something I've been doing to great effect ever since. This is my new favorite tea recipe. Boil water, maple syrup, fresh tangerine juice, and allspice together. Steep cinnamon apple teabags in it. But be careful when removing the teabags before serving.

2. Cereal Gone Bananas

Melt butter in pan in low-medium heat. Then carefully saute slices of banana. Turn off the heat, drizzle with maple syrup, and mix gently. You can also use this recipe as a warm topping for raisin bran and milk, soymilk, or almond milk.

3. Pumped Up Pumpernickel

Got a stash of pumpernickel bread? Put it to a sweet use with some maple syrup. Grab a bowl of whipped cream cheese, then mix in your syrup.

Don't forget to add ground cinnamon, curry powder, and chopped walnuts. Then spread the mixture on pumpernickel bread. You can even top it with arugula and another piece of pumpernickel.

4. Vibrant Vegetables

Let's add some sweetness to healthy food. Steam carrots then cut them into coin shapes. Add chopped green beans and chunks of unpeeled apple.

After cooking and before serving, carefully glaze your dish with a mixture of maple syrup. Then sprinkle freshly chopped rosemary, ground black pepper, and dried cherries.

5. Peppy Popcorn

Now let's get into sweet but salty snacks! This one doesn't need any cooking skills. Just mix popped popcorn with maple syrup. Then make it extra special with some unsweetened cocoa powder. You can even go the extra mile by adding pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries.
