Wine is the perfect complement to your meals, but the key is really knowing which ones pair well with certain foods. Of course, preference also comes into play; do you prefer, red, white or rose? We'll help you choose!

Choosing the Right Wine

White Wine

These wines often get their light color from white grapes and there are many different types on the market. Pinot Grigio is one of the most popular Italian wines in the world, but if you like them sweet this one is not for you. This is very dry and pairs really well with seafood. Chardonnay is reportedly the most popular white wine in the world. Scallops, lobster, dishes with cheddar cheese, curries and buttery sauces pair well with certain types of Chardonnay.

Red Wine

Red wine is made from a variety of dark colored grapes, and there are so many different types around the world, we wouldn't have time to list them all right now. However, Merlot is one of the most popular options, matter of fact, Winemag calls it the Chardonnay of reds and as you just found out Chardonnay is the most popular wine in the world. Merlot goes really well with Pasta, Spaghetti and meatballs, braised short ribs and beef wellington, just to name a few. Other popular reds are Malbec, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Oh another fun tip, they say red wine is good for heart health.

Rosé

To be honest, rose is my preference no matter what i'm eating; it is by far my favorite. Also known as rosado, It incorporates some of the color of the grape skin and the result is a beautiful pale pink color. There are many different styles of rosé . Pinot Noir is a pale shade of pink and is quite fruity; it is crisp and dry– perfect for salads and seafood. Mourvèdre Rosé is a brighter pink shade and pairs well with lamb while the popular Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé works well with roast chicken or turkey.

We sure hope this article gave you some insight on the different ones available and the ones that pair best with certain meals. Share your feedback below.
