An Easy Donut Recipe To Make Your Life Easier
Who doesn’t love donuts?
The little bun with a hole in the middle represents a whole lot of sweetness and scrumptiousness that has become a snack that you can enjoy at any time of day. It has become a part of tradition and comes in many shapes, sizes and flavors.
With that being said, today we’re going to be teaching you how to make classic doughnuts at home.
What You’ll Need:
- 2 8 oz. envelopes active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 5 c. all-purpose flower
- 1 q. vegetable oil
- 1/3 c. butter
- 2 c. confectioner’s sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 tbsp. hot water
Step 1: Combine Yeast & Water
Combine yeast and warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Beat Mixture
Add sugar, eggs, salt, milk, eggs, shortening and 2 cups of flour in a mixing bowl. Beat it for 2 minutes.
Step 3: Prepare Dough
For the rest of the flour, beat it until dough is not sticky anymore. Put in ½ cup at a time.
Step 4: Roll Out Dough
Dust surface with flour and knead dough until it is elastic and smooth.
Step 5: Let Dough Rise
Transfer flour to a greased bowl and let it rise until it’s size has doubled. Don’t forget to cover it.
Step 6: Roll Out Dough Again
Place dough on a floured surface again and roll it out gently, about ½ inch thick.
Step 7: Create Donut Shape
Cut the dough into round shapes, use a donut cutter to make the holes and and let them double in size.
Step 8: Make Glaze
While waiting for the donuts to rise, make your glaze simply by melting butter in medium heat. Add vanilla and sugar until it’s smooth. Remove from stove and then add 1 tbsp of water.
Step 9: Deep Fry Donuts
Pre heat oil in deep fryer to 350F and put in one donut at a time. When they float to the surface, fry each side until it’s golden brown.
Step 10: Drain Donuts
Place all of the donuts onto a wire rack or strainer to remove excess oil. Once drained, dip donuts into glaze and strain again. Let them cool for 5 minutes and you’re done!
