Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Here is a tomato sauce recipe that you can do in the comforts of your own home. This tomato sauce is versatile that you can use it for pizzas or pastas. To top it off, this tasty tomato sauce is healthy as well!

You Will Need:

  • ¼ cup of olive oil
  • 1 piece of bay leaf
  • 1 piece of onion, diced
  • 2 pieces of garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh oregano, chopped (if you do not have one, you can substitute a ½ teaspoon of dried oregano)
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 2 cans of whole plum tomatoes, undrained and chopped

Cooking instructions:

Step 1.

Place a large sauce pan over medium heat. Once the pan is properly heated, you can pour in olive oil then wait for it to heat up.

Step 2.

Once the oil is hot already, you can add the spices– oregano, salt, garlic onions and bay leaf.

Step 3.

Cook until the onions become translucent and soft. This will take about ten minutes or so. Make sure that you stir the ingredients often.

Step 4.

Pour the tomato paste into the pan and cook for about five minutes.

Step 5.

Add in the tomatoes and wait for the sauce to boil. This must be stirred constantly.

Step 6.

Lower down the heat and allow it to simmer for an hour. Stir the mixture after every five minutes. Doing so will prevent the sauce at the bottom of the pan from being burnt.

Step 7.

Have a taste of the sauce. Add salt to taste.

Step 8.

Before serving, remove the bay leaf from the mixture.
